Bush Chook Van Rack Mid-Post Tilting Mechanism
$249.00
We’re excited to announce the release of our new Mid-Post Tilting Mechanism. This is compatible with Gripsport’s full range of van racks, if you already own a van rack, it’s a simple process to convert. This is a game changer for many RVer’s travelling with bikes who own Jayco Expanda type vans, caravans with large front opening boots, caravans with short drawbars requiring front window access and forward fold camper trailers. This exciting new product is proudly made right here in WA.
expanda type vans
For Expanda type van owners, our new mid-post tilting mechanism means that bikes and the rack no longer need to be removed in order to extend the front bed. Our new lower post is made to a height that will clear the underside of the pull out bed (at full length) with the mid-post tilting mechanism installed and in the tilted (horizontal) position. The optional posts have several holes drilled to adjust the height if required. As with the standard Gripsport setup with a short quick release post, our recommendation would be to keep your rack as low as possible and cut both the upper and lower posts to suit your setup.
large front boots
For owners with a large hinged front opening boot, like some of the Jayco Stirling/Silverline models and some Euro brands, previously there was no way to access the boot without removing the post, this is now as simple as removing the locating pin and tilting the post.
Short drawbars, front window access
Short drawbars are always an issue when installing van racks on the drawbar, the bikes need to be close to the van to give the back of the vehicle clearance to the rack when doing tight turns. This can be an issue if items like front windows need to be opened as they clash with the standard Gripsport tilting mechanism setup. Our solution is simple, install the new mid-post tilting mechanism allowing complete access.
forward fold campers
For owners of forward fold campers who really had no solution to carry bikes on their campers apart from removing the rack, this is now possible. The post can be extended above the winch, then simply tilted forward out of the way.
installation
This new setup requires two separate posts, upper and lower. The posts can be made DIY or we can supply you our pre-drilled, ready to install post kits. View Fitting Guide
Our posts are 50x50x4mm Duragal and are cut and drilled specifically to suit the Gripsport bolt on mount and tilt/non-tilt mechanism. Our posts are also available to purchase singularly. This is handy if you currently have a short post and would like to use it for the bottom section and purchase the top section which is drilled to suit the standard Gripsport rack tilting/non-tilting assembly at 50mm centres. It can be easily trimmed to suit different setups.
