Bush Chook RV & Leisure is an online/travelling RV & camping supply business. Founded in Perth Western Australia in 2019 by long term nomads, husband and wife team Terry & Janis Scott.
They are well experienced in retail having previously run and owned a successful retail store in the Northwest of Western Australia for over 15 years.
Although they have been away from retail (and the bush) for a few years they saw the opportunity to establish a new RV supply business that offers a quality range of innovative products for today’s nomads.
“Caravanning is second nature to us and we have been flat out touring around this great country for the past 20 years. We are now based in Perth where customers can still expect that great country service from dedicated professionals”.

Terry did his first “Big Lap” in the mid 70’s leaving his childhood home of Tom Price circumnavigating Oz with his family of seven over the Xmas holidays in a 16 foot caravan! “Funny thing is we spent almost seven weeks on the road and two of them were spent in the old man’s hometown in Victoria. So really we did a full lap in five weeks and back then parts of the No.1 highway were still dirt!”

Terry is a Mechanical Fitter by trade but is really an all-rounder. He has worked pretty much everywhere, trying his hand at careers from building to retail. Some of his handy work you will see on this site and it’s quite possible you will never have seen before.
After experiencing the many issues faced by today’s nomads he decided to design some products to make life on the road easier and he has been using them for many years while roaming this great country.
“I remember getting into Broome after many hours bouncing along massive corrugations, the old man opened up the van door to find every single cupboard door on the floor, including the fridge door! There was shit everywhere and everything had an inch of Pindan dust on it!
“It was the start of the wet season, it was super hot and humid and of course back then no air con, half of us had prickly heat. We had so much crap in the single axle van that the axle actually bent and we kept getting blowouts from worn tyres. We eventually got it fixed in Elliot in the NT. Talk about livin the dream”.
“The trip is still as vivid in my memory now as it was way back then, it was truly amazing! Our last full lap not too long ago took us twelve months, so we got the chance to see a lot of things we flew past at 60mph when I was a kid”!
The name Bush Chook is colloquially known as Australia’s very own emu, or if you want to get all scientific: Dromaius novaehollandiae.
Here in WA, Bush Chook is better known as a local brew, Emu Export Lager. It’s a beaut refreshing ale originally brewed in Perth by the Swan Brewery. It’s now owned by catering giant Lion Co. Bush Chook might now be owned by the sheep shaggers and brewed interstate but is still a favourite for West Aussies.
